Denver Housing Authority is Hiring a Director of Human Resources Near Denver, CO

The Housing Authority of the City and County of Denver (“DHA”) seeks a dynamic and experienced leader to direct DHA’s Human Resources Department.

As one of the largest landlords in the State of Colorado, DHA’s mission is to serve the residents of Denver by developing, owning, and operating safe, decent and affordable housing in a manner that promotes thriving communities.

The Position
Oversees the overall strategic direction, planning, coordination, administration and evaluation of the Human Resources function at the Housing Authority of the City and County of Denver (“DHA”). The director is responsible for developing and ensuring effective implementation of policies and programs encompassing all areas of Human Resources and labor relations. Advocate a culture of competency and awareness of equity issues. Guide the agency’s DEI initiatives to support management strategies that resonate with diverse populations, promote inclusivity, and address equity considerations in management and engagement efforts. Responsibilities include workforce planning, talent acquisition, talent management and development, employee engagement, legal compliance and recordkeeping, employee relations, compensation and benefits, and training. This position requires a true strategic business partner who is collaborative and capable of building consensus and commitment toward shared outcomes. Responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Human Resources (“HR”) Department.

Benefit Information
  • Sick leave is accrued at 6 hours per month and vacation leave for new employees is accrued at 8 hours per month
  • 12 paid holidays per year with an optional paid day off.
  • Health insurance and 125 Plan.
  • Group life insurance, pension plan (10% of annual salary contributed by DHA), short term and long term disability insurance are paid by DHA.
  • Dental plan, vision insurance, critical illness insurance, accident insurance, 457 pension plan and the ROTH IRA are employee paid options.
  • Performance based merit increases and cost of living adjustments are given depending upon current policy.
Minimum Qualifications at the Time of Application
  • Bachelor degree in human resources administration, public administration, or a related field.
  • HRCI and/or SHRM Certification required at the time of application.
  • Seven (7) years progressive management experience at a Human Resource manager level or higher
  • Four (4) years’ experience in a supervisory capacity.
  • A valid Colorado driver license is required. Eligibility to drive must be maintained in accordance with the personnel policy.
Opening Salary Range
$112,891.75 to 141,115.03/annually
